Anyone play IGI 1?

Forums

I've only played the 2nd one and it was the reason I added it to the network. Was wondering if it would be worth it to get the first one. How comparable is it to IGI 2....would it be a let down to play? Any specific/major draw backs to it vrs IGI 2

Project IGI 1 is just as good as the second. The suspense and atmosphere is still there, and the graphics arn't too far behind either. As far as gameplay goes, there isn't too much diference. The only thing that comes to mind that is diferent is the save procedure... i dont think u can save mid mission in the first I.G.I .....

lots of games are ruined that way. Tho only with games that are too hard and you need to keep repeating difficult tasks. I like games that move, and if I get too hung up on an area because of the difficult I quickly become bored. Tho I still havent tried IGI 1 I dont imagine it would be impossible to beat even so.

I played IGI from end to end (without cheats or walkthroughs...) and thoroughly enjoyed it. The lack of a save feature did make for tedious repitition, as I'd invariably get clobbered three inches from the end of a level, and have to restart.

I liked the use of real-world weapons, as I'm familiar with most of them in real life. :) I consider myself lucky that way.

I loved the first one - even though there was no save options during a level, and some levels have 'respawning soldiers' which is a bit annoying. I still think the Eagles Nest I level, set in snowy mountains, is as beautiful a level as i've seen, and the sky in the Nuclear Infiltration level is gorgeous. I ofen wish IGI 2 had had more snow based levels ...

yea the game was pretty wild when it first came out i thought it seemed
like the best FPS there was for single player anyway

had nice maps with LONG distant views which was really fun for sniping
i still play the game once in a while.

the 1 map i liked the most i think it was the 1 with the tanks driving around
inside the base area was a real tricky map because if you set off alarms
you get ENDLESS enemys which wasnt bad :)

but actually i think my most favorite one was the one with the big buildings
and the heli copter, tanks, also had snipers shooting at you from buildings etc :)

even know the game is about 6 years old now its still quite fun if there was
game saving at any point the game would have actually been to short like call of duty.

IGI 1 is truly an amazing game. The missions, the atmospere, the graphics everything's just beautiful. I liked it how there was no saving feature because you had more pressure and a great feeling of acomplishment after finishing the missions. Plus there a was a medical syringe which was awesome. I prefer having the syringe and no saving feature rather than no syringe and that upload thing..it's more dramatic. The landscapes were just as good as in IGI 2 and the game is older. Another thing that totally ruled was the story, a great plot and last but not least the huge last mission which was a f**king insane dramatical action packed monster, totally hardcore and a hard lesson to all those mindless 3d shooters.

There was one other thing i liked about IGI1 over IGI2 as well ... and thats the voice they used for David. The voice in IGI1 was really cool, however the voice in IGI2 was a bit naff.

I agree with that. He didn't have a voice of a guy you thought could kick so much ass. that was fun. Plus the script and the dialogues were better, and the story was better too.

In IGI you can't save your mission. You must complete it before going on to the next mission.

Does anyone know how to get in to the compound in the Eagle's Nest II mission? The area is completely fenced and I can't find a way in?

I've been playing IGI-1 again recently on a new PC i just built. Still a really cool game. Its definetly got a better atmosphere than IGI 2, and the plot and levels are better thought out i think. The thing that is so great is you can go anywhere you like over the terrain - they removed that from IGI 2; if you go to far away from the target area, you get warned by HQ then the mission is aborted ... not so in IGI 1. I think i'll go for a stroll .... that-away ! :p

I found a couple of interesting things i forgot in IGI-1 .. in the Get Priboi level where you start in a huge compound and there is a building with guards doing target practice with machine guns ... if you activate the patrol helicopter by climbing the pylon to exit the compound, i decided to follow the helicopter and see where it went ... it ended up landing a little way from the start area, on a slope which it slid down - i jumped on board and shot the guard and nicked his UZI ! Also, i had a bit of fun later on in that level ... i thought i'd place trip mines on priboi's car before i blew up the fuel dump. I wondered if they'd go off when the car drove away ... but guess what ! The car drove off, and all the mines were left in mid air where the car had been ! They were still active too, as i found out when i went to have a closer look ...

A great game.

Lol, I'm reading this now, I had the same adventures! The heli, the mines, the exploding of the Priboi car with the LAW80 [including the car's "gay" disappearance, after the explosion] AND the mission fail after ^_^

Also, the RIDE on Priboi's car's roof, and the GAME CRASH, after it reaches its final destination and DISAPPEARS if you're still on it! (Where does it respawn? I've read somewhere that no objects disappear in IGI 1...)

Ahh, fun times. Finished the game 101st time recently. It makes me puke now. Still, I want to play it again though. No, I hope I won't get to play it anymore for a LONG TIME. Although, there's the ISO.... on my DVD.... *NO. Those times are over already. That's it.*

Whatever it may be but IGI 2 is hugh improvement over igi 1 in geotacticts.
I don't know but placement of soilders over maps doesn't show realism in IGI 2.
It is like they are pasted on map...!
